There will be a mixture of street and bush Orienteering this weekend, with four courses on offer: a long and short Expert course, one Active course, and one Starter course.  With the exception of the Starter course, roughly half the controls on each course will be in suburban Swan View, and half in John Forrest National Park.  This will provide a mixture of fast running with easy navigation and slower going

Australian MTBO Sprint Champs

Congratulations to Ricky Thackray for winning the mountain bike orienteering sprint distance championships held near Canberra on the weekend of October 19-20.  Ricky beat a quality field including former Aus representative David Simpfendorfer, 2012 sprint champion Steven Todkill, and local gun riders Seb Dunne and Todd Nowack to claim victory.  In the supporting events, the ACT middle and long champs, Ricky claimed 4th and 3rd place respectively with Todd and David

Be Active Metro Series

Final Series Results

The final event of the 2012 - 2103 Be Active Metro Series was held on Saturday 23rd February at Mosman Park.

Congratulations to all the winners of the varous classes and to the overall Short, Medium and Long course winners; Ricky Thackray who dominated on the long course, the medium course was won by Lee Holliday and the win on the short course went to WOW club junior Kellie Martin.

Navdash is back

NavDash 2013 Commences Saturday 2nd March!

The popular NavDash Sprint Orienteering Series will commence on Saturday 2nd March, at Murdoch University.  Registration for the event will be open from 1.00pm to 2.00pm, with the first starters heading off at 1.30pm.  There will be a short briefing for beginners at around 1.20pm.

The NavDash events are short distance (2 – 4kms) held in a compact area with lots of map detail.  The courses are suitable

As the Be Active Metro Series of Orienteering finishes, keen orienteers will be preparing for the sprint and bush orienteering seasons. The NavDash sprint series will commence on Saturday 2nd March at Murdoch University, followed by a NavDash event at Ascot on 16th March.

North Lake : Be Active Metro Series

Saturday 2nd February

The Be Active MetrO Series heads South to another new area on Saturday 2nd February at 5.00pm, with an event near Adventure World in Bibra Lake. The event assembly area is adjacent to Bibra Lake, near the junction of Progress Drive and Gwilliam Drive.    

The event is not far from the coast – Coogee Beach or the beaches in the new Port Coogee Marina, and Fremantle’s many cafes are a 15-minute drive.
