Bush 3 & 4 - WA Winter Classic

Sunday 4th - Monday 5th June


This year's Winter Classic will be held at Kenine Hill on the Sunday and Monday of the June Long Weekend! This is the only event on the OWA calendar this year where your performance over two days counts for the overall result. Awards are made for first male and first female on each course, based on cumulative time over the two days.

MTBO 3: Dwellingup

Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre, Dwellingup

With many controls close to the event centre in town, this event is well suited to beginners, families, gravel bikes, and even walkers/runners (enter foot class). E-bikes welcome - enter the E - Bike class! No bike? No problem! You can hire a mountain bike or e-bike from Dwellingup Adventures the start location for $35.

Bush 2: Spice Brook

Julimar State Forest

This is one of our premier complex spur and gully bush areas with additional rock detail but also a network of watercourses and tracks for the easier courses. Generally, the area is pretty runnable except close to Spice Brook which has a band of thicker vegetation along it. The VE and H5 courses ONLY do not need to cross the creek.

Enjoy exploring the hills, valleys, cul-de-sacs, bush tracks and reserves in Roleystone on your bike. This event is based in the residential areas, not in the bush areas that surround it. Contours will feature in your route choice.

Manning Park, Spearwood

Manning Park offers a great opportunity to (re)introduce yourself to a bit of bush orienteering in a convenient metropolitan location. A range of courses from the beginner level through to the more advanced have been set using the lake, park and the ridge of coastal bushland with its multitude of tracks crisscrossing it.

NavDash 4 - Hale School

Hale School, Wembley Downs

Come and enjoy a sprint at the Hale School campus in Wembley Downs, with beautiful green lawns, neat gardens and intricate buildings. Be prepared for interesting route choices, intense navigation around the buildings and fast legs in the open. Afterwards, there are plenty of options – visit a local coffee shop, picnic at Bold Park or enjoy a swim and lunch at the beach.

Family MTBO 1 - Troy Park "Atta-cross"

Troy Park, Burke Drive, Attadale

Come and enjoy a cycle around Attadale/Applecross! The course covers mainly residential streets, with gravel paths in nature reserves and cycle paths along the river. This event is suited to beginners, families and runners. E-bikes welcome.

NavDash 3 - North Lake Senior Campus

North Lakes Senior Campus, Kardinya

The area was mapped in January and is a small school campus, being used for the first time. The start is adjacent to the parking area. The terrain is typical of high school campuses. As the area is small, the courses are quite short. Both the Long & Short courses will have a map flip. Please note the scale is 1:2000 with 2.5m contours. The map is A4 size.

NavDash 2 - Russell's Gully

Russell's Gully, Beeches Mews, Brigadoon

Treat yourselves to a delightful drive up into the hills past the vineyards to the spectacular location that is near the lookout to view the train line and Swan River snaking through the valley.

Russell's Gully is open running, with patches of thickets that can be avoided. There are many bare rock surfaces scattered throughout the map. The boulders are mostly on the smaller size and again scattered over most of the area. As this map

NavDash 1 - ECU Joondalup

Welcome to the first NavDash event for 2023! This event will take place on a Sunday morning on the Joondalup campus of Edith Cowan University.

NavDash, also known as sprint events, feature short courses (2–3.5 kms), usually held in a small, compact  area with complex features, such as the buildings and passages of a university campus.

Event report: MetrO 11 Viveash

Woodbridge Riverside Park, Viveash

The second last MetrO series event was held at Woodbridge Riverside Park in Viveash. An amazing turnout of participants rocked up to race around Viveash and along the river, so much so that we ran out of maps! While the Short course may not have provided lots of route choice, the Medium & Long courses were filled with plenty of routes to choose from.

Event report: MetrO 10 Manning

Sandon Park, Waterford

Following a very hot week and a forecast of 38 degrees, 60 people attended the event, including several newcomers. Due to the hot weather, the courses were shortened slightly by reducing the number of controls required, to reduce the risk of heat stress. Many competitors also took the opportunity to cool off in the Canning River after their run.
