The 2015 WA School Orienteering Championships will be held on Wednesday 17th June, 2015. The venue will be announced soon.

1000 students enjoyed the Be Active 2014 WA School Orienteering Champs at Whiteman Park.

Oustanding performances included 6 minute wins by Joel McMullen (La Salle College) and Jo-anna Maynard (Duncraig SHS) in Boys and Girls 15A, and a 14 minute win by Oliver Martin (Peter Moyes Anglican Community School) running up a year in Boys 16A.  The Richards twins, Sarah and Shaun...

Metro orienteering events are runner, family and dog friendly, and are easily achievable by anyone who can read a street map. For more information about the Metro Series, view our Urban Event Guide. You can also win one of the weekly or series prizes  - find out more about classes and awards.

Choose from 3 courses: Short (2-3kms), Medium (4-5kms), or Long (7-8kms). Registration from 4:15 with a mass start at 5:00pm.

The 7-day Karrak Karnival was a great success, despite variable weather more resembling Melbourne than Perth! Many WA orienteers took advantage of the national carnival being on home turf to put in good performances, across age classes from under 10 years to 80 plus.

Join us for local street orienteering at Little Grove Primary School, Albany. Enter on the day and choose from a range of courses. Everyone is welcome.

Long, middle and sprint distance events were held over 2 days on high quality new maps, thanks to the hard work of Ricky, Ian, Duncan & co. WA won several age classes across all 3 distances - Anthea Feaver W50 long and sprint, Ricky Thackray M21 long and middle, Peter Komyshan M60 long and sprint, Penny Dufty W70 middle and sprint,  Lois West , Duncan Sullivan M50 middle, and Ian Dalton M21 sprint. Lois West added to her cache of KK medals with a win in W60 middle distance.

The last orienteering events for the year prior to the Metro Series are on this Friday and Saturday October 10-11 in Margaret River.  Pre-entries for the three mountain events have closed but entries on the day will still be accepted on two courses.  Come and try mountain bike orienteering at any or all the events if you've not done it before on three great maps, including the awesome single track network around the Carters Rd pine trails.  Download Bulletin 3 from Eventor for full details and...

 Karrak Karnival, the 2014 Australian foot-Orienteering Championships carnival, will be held in Western Australia from September 27th to October 5th, in the middle of WA’s famous wildflower season. The carnival will comprise nine events over the nine days.

Did you know that even though entries have officially closed, you could still enter some events on the day, hurray!

Come along this weekend and join us for a fun foot event in Wandoo National Park. There will be many different courses to choose from on the day. Whether you are new to orienteering or wanting to challenge yourself further, we have a course for you. Come and enjoy the beautiful wild flowers and glorious scenery. Sunday 17 August  – Calophylla (East of Sawyers Valley)

The flowers are out, the streams are flowing, the rocks are shining - don't miss the opportunity to orienteer in this beautiful area! Although this is a championship event, members of the public and newcomers are also welcome to do a course after the official entries – instructors will be on hand to help. There will be courses to suit all levels and abilities.

The WA Sprint Champs will be held in the picturesque grounds around the City of Gosnells offices and the parkland that surrounds the area.  Enter now in Eventor or just turn up on the day. Two courses will be available – one hard course and an easy course. These are separate to the championship courses. Groups are eligible for enter on the day only. Have a great run and great fun competing for your club. Come and join us at Jorgensen Park, set in the scenic Shire of Kalamunda. Team registration is from 09:00-09:45, start at 10:00. Three courses are available for the general public. These are Hard, Moderate and Easy (taking place from 10:25 to 11:00). Everyone is welcome and instructions are available for newcomers.  The Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) in Bulgaria have finished, with excellent performances by two WA brothers – Oscar and Henry McNulty.

In his fourth and final JWOC, Oscar had top twenty finishes in the field of more than 160 - 17th in the Sprint race, only 53 seconds behind the winner, and 19th in the Long distance. He qualified for the Middle Distance final in 11th place, but could only manage 32nd in the final in a very complex forest. Oscar ran first leg for the Australia 1...

 

The Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) commence in Bulgaria today, with two WA brothers – Oscar and Henry McNulty – in the Australian team of 6 boys and 6 girls. Today's event is Sprint Orienteering, followed by Long Distance on Wednesday. Thursday is a rest day, before the Middle Distance qualification races on Friday and Final on Saturday, and the program ends with the Relay event on Sunday 27 July.

This is Oscar’s fourth and final JWOC, but the first (of many we hope) for Henry.

This area has something for everyone - walkers and families can enjoy the bush and the first wildflowers, while the complex rock features provide plenty of challenge for more serious competitors. Experienced orienteers, noticeable in their fluoro orange vests, will be on hand to help newcomers and those a bit rusty with their navigational skills. Bring a picnic lunch and catch up with some old or new friends after the event. Everyone is welcome.
