Sunday 16th August 2020
The rain showers rolled through all morning for Sunday's Peterdine event. Situated up on the hill Rachel West and Craig Dufty had a good vantage point looking across the distant paddocks and hills to see the approaching weather in advance. Clear spells were heavily used by runners to get underway but not many got around the whole course without getting wet at some point. There were still lots of smiling, happy faces at the end though from people who had enjoyed the open, friendly terrain of Peterdine.
BO member, Ricky Thackray, took advantage of the nice running terrain to clock up some ultra marathon training kilometres running the H2, H4, H5 and M courses followed by control collection to give himself well over 20 kilometres of running distance for the day. It was great to see the injured Simon Windsor getting back to events by introducing a group of newcomers and taking them around courses on the day.
Thanks to all the BO members who chipped in to help on the day. Penny and Phil Dufty and Jack and Sue Dowling arrived early and left late helping with the set up and pull down of the assembly area. Sue also helped as event organiser, instructor and control collector. Jack and Rosalie McCauley combined to cover the computer operator duties. Thanks to our control collectors Hadrien, Ellie, Liam, Phil, Penny, Ricky, Rob and Lois, who also helped with packing up. Your help was very much appreciated.
