2nd - 3rd June 2019
Kenine Hill, near Woodanilling
If you couldn't get to the WA Classic (2nd and 3rd June) at Kenine Hill you missed a great weekend! 88 people enjoyed the 2 day event, with many camping on the map overnight. Blessed with fantastic weather on both days, the mix of granite terrain and open paddock made for pleasant running. It was great to see the juniors enjoying their time together - from running their individual courses, playing footy, skills activities with Rob West, directional night orienteering with Michal Hubacek, marshmallow toasting (can't believe that giant bag of marshmallows Sten!) and spotlight.....they slept well!!
Course winners enjoyed local produce from the Bunbury Farmer's Market and a presentation of a framed map and sincere thanks was given to landowners Frank and Lola Carter, and Margaret and Russell Thomson (courtesy of Margaret and Russell's daughter Bindi who came by with her son during the event pack up).
Many thanks to Day 1 Setter Jen Graham-Taylor and Controller John Toomey, and Day 2 Setter Jill Elderfield and Controller Tony Whittaker and event coordinator Robyn Phillips. Special thanks to Noel Schoknecht (assisting with map printing), Tony Simpkins (sorting the OAWA equipment borrowed for the event), Rosalie and Melinda (McTeam) and Jack and Sue Dowling (towing and assisting with the caravan). Finally to all of the SWOT, ADHOC and Perth Club members that collected controls and helped with setting/packing up - thank you for your assistance
