It was all galloping and no galumphing for the NavRun at Garvey Park on Sunday 21st. Perhaps it was the winter solstice, or just enthusiasm to do some fast orienteering. On an overcast morning, there were 78 entries with many of these being groups. This included a large contingent from the 1st Carlisle Scout Group, consisting of Joeys, Cubs and Scouts, who went around in five groups with their Scout leaders and parents. It was also good to see many families come and try orienteering.
On the Long course, the first male was Rohan Braid winning by 11 seconds from Ruben Claessens. The first female on the Long course was Ceri Pass. On the Short course, the first male was Mike Sibbald while the first female was Carol Brownlie. On the Easy course, the first female was Sheridan Ellery while the first male was John Major.
Thanks to Oliver and Kate for updating the map, setting the courses, placing the controls out in the dark, and for being so well organised. Thanks to Melinda for her excellent administration on the day. And thanks to the control collectors Oliver, Kate, Russell, Fiona, Nigel, Tucker and Trent - apologies if I have missed anyone.
