The sun and the wildflowers were out for the 2nd-to-last bush orienteering event of the 2024 season. The Malmalling map showed its age in some parts with noticeable changes to the vegetation and an older style of mapping for the rock detail which proved challenging for many seasoned orienteers.
A section of the map close to the start area had been re-mapped by Jiri, which opened up options for the very easy and easy courses with addition of a track network. Most courses were set on the lower slopes of the map, allowing for less climb and physicality of courses, with the H1 and H2 courses extended into the more challenging northwest section of the map where there is complex rock detail and much thicker vegetation. All competitors had to contend with the reduced visibility due to extensive grass tree cover!
Congratulations to the course winners - Craig D (H1), Christopher D (H2), Kate B (H3), Carol B (H4), Rosemary K (H5), Eli G (M) and Michael J (Easy).
