This was the most sociable competition of our season to date, judging by the shouts of encouragement. It attracted 52 runners forming 23 teams at John XXIII College in Mount Claremont, mostly competing in unanticipated light rain.

Each class, Open, Masters and Mixed, had four different courses allowing eight variations of running order for teams, with legs repeatedly criss-crossing the compact complex campus so that map flips were needed for most. The 1:3000 scale meant narrow gaps between buildings favoured sharp eyes for route choices.

Winning times were gratifyingly close to average 15 minutes for Open and Masters classes with overall only two mispunches and one wrong map taken. 2024 OWA club relays - waiting for startThe new scoring method gave BO 15 points, LOST 26, WOW 36 and KO 49, allowing them to take home the prestigious Rutty Rock, recently lightened by Rob West.

Thanks to Kate Kliukina for remapping after major building works, the Lommers family for converting SI stations to Air mode, Rosalie McCauley for early morning help, Melinda Richards for processing results and Helen and Ken Post for ferrying gear back to storage.

A big thank you goes to Carol Brownlie who set the courses and together with controller Ken Brownlie organised the event.

Control collectors were Anne and Brian Austin, Rosalie McCauley and Christine Howitt, Graeme Harris, David Messenger, and Helen and Ken Post. Thanks to them too.
