The Ranford event in Canning Vale ended up being in the middle of an unseasonable heatwave for Perth. With temperatures forecast for 39 degrees on the day, it was no wonder that entries were low for the event.

Safety of competitors was front of mind and the courses were shortened by 20% in line with the OWA Extreme Weather Policy although pleasingly for the 40 plus people who turned up, the sea breeze was in and the temperature dropped.  Competitors young and not-so-young all enjoyed a refreshing icy pole when they finished the course.

The short course winners were Liam Dufty and Rachel West. The medium winners were Paul Dowling and Liisa Hirvonen, and Sten Claessens and Veronika Vavrova won the long.  Thanks as always to the course setter Rohan Braid (with some help from Ceri Pass) and to the helpers on the day: Brad, Heike, Rosalie, Paul, Susan, Matt, Veronika, Jason, Sten, Ruben and Russell.
