Jumbuck Ridge, Upper Swan

The orienteering event at Jumbuck Ridge was a success, with approximately 80 competitors enjoying a sunny but cool day. The area's steep and challenging terrain provided an exciting experience for participants.

Notably, the event was part of the Junior Orienteering Camp where some 22 youngsters enjoyed the taste of challenging navigation and some valuable feedback to improve their performance.  An encouraging number of enter-on-the-day competitors commented that they had a great time and hopefully some of them will come back to future events.

Oliver Martin, a first-time course setter, and experienced setter Robert Boekelaar created engaging and demanding courses that showcased the rugged beauty of Jumbuck Ridge. An area like Jumbuck Ridge also provided some drama at the end of the day, but all is well that ends well.

Thanks go to instructors Brian Austin, Carol Brownlie and Oliver Martin. Thanks also go to Melinda for managing the computing and to control collectors Dan Greig, David McCauley, Jenny Komyshan, Christine Howitt, Ken and Carol Brownlie, Oliver Martin, Robert Boekelaar, and David Messenger.

Overall, the event provided a challenging and memorable orienteering experience, fostering a sense of camaraderie and growth within the junior orienteering camp.

Results from Jumbuck Ridge can be found on Eventor, and routes on Livelox.
