Banyowla Regional Park, Martin

The delayed 2021 MTBO Long Championships were finally completed on the daunting Banyowla scarp in Martin.

Twenty-three competitors conquered their fears to participate and were rewarded with a profusion of wildflowers, benign weather and four interesting courses - which challenged even the best. There were a few DNF's and MP’s, but the majority of riders completed the arduous test, including a first time orienteer, and one rider who had to stop halfway round to breastfeed her gorgeous 6 week old!
Congratulations to Debbie McKay the Women's Long Distance Open Champion and to Hadrien Devillepoix the Men's Long Distance Open Champion.

Thanks are due to Hadrien Devillepoix for coordinating the revised arrangements, Richard Begley for setting and event day organisation, and Ricky Thackray for his extremely useful feedback on the courses. Thanks also to the Robs (Beattie and Pullella) for volunteering for control collection, to Debbie McKay for contributing to the early set up duties, and to Jack and Sue Dowling for computer and marshalling support.

Results are in Eventor and photos from the event are on the OWA Facebook page.
