Bush Event at Gunapin Ridge (West)
State Orienteering League - Long Distance

Has your training paid off in the early part of the season and do you have your bush running legs ready to score some points in the State Orienteering League (SOL) Long Distance event? This year the SOL Long Distance event will be at Gunapin Ridge on the eastern edge of the State Forest with the map providing an interesting mix of farm and wandoo bush. Plenty of rocky outcrops to keep you on your toes as you manage the twists and turns of the different courses. And if you need something else to tempt you out to the bush wild flower season should be well under way.

What is the difference between an SOL event and a Standard event?

Well the only difference is that if you enter the nominated course for your age then you will score points towards the overall Orienteer of the Year (OY) trophy. There are six events that count for the OY and you can check out the SOL series details here. So you can expect some serious racing for points in the age categories, plus some friendly sledging between the hopefuls! Of course, if you don’t care too much about the SOL and OY points, then the event will look and feel the same as a Standard event. A range of courses will be on offer and you can still choose to run whichever course you like.

Registration: 09:00am – 11:00am
Start times: 09:30am – 11:30am
Course closes: 1:00pm sharp

We warmly welcome families and newcomers to orienteering -  instruction is available.
