Congratulations to our West Australian representatives who travelled to Sydney for round 1 of the National Orienteering League. The first event was a mixed male-female sprint relay where a WA/Qld combined team picked up a respectable 9th place on the Sydney University campus.
This was followed by an afternoon qualifying sprint heat through sand dunes and parklands following the trail of the historic Botany Bay Gift. WA had just one qualifier for the A final in a cut throat competiton that saw 75% of senior elite runners relegated to the B final. The A final on Sunday morning at the University of NSW saw the Nomads triumph, with Oscar McNulty continuing his previous outstanding form in the juniors at this his first year of senior elite competition to win the event, ten seconds clear of his nearest rival. Congratulations to Oscar!
