This coming weekend is the perfect time to go south for a weekend of a difference and enjoy some orienteering.  With events in Denmark on Saturday and near Collie on Sunday, it is a great excuse to get out of town, do some touring, some exercise and enjoy the WA great outdoors in autumn.
On Saturday 3 May orienteering comes to the Albany/Denmark region. A new orienteering club is being set up in the Great Southern region and a street event in Denmark will be their first event. There will be 3 courses of varying lengths, with all having similar easy navigation, making it suitable for all abilities.
A Score style mountain bike orienteering event has been planned for Sunday at Wellington Dam near Collie. A score event is where there are numerous ‘controls’ on a map and you try to visit as many as possible within a set time-frame.
The map being used is full of tracks and other features, which should make it a very interesting event.

Indeed, it could be a very interesting weekend!
