Event 8 in the 2013/2014 MetrO Series is in the NW Coastal suburbs, just 3.5kms from the beach. With a 5pm start, the sea breeze should be in to create ideal conditions for the event.
MetrO Series events are 'enter on the day', with easy navigation and three distance options: Short 2-3kms, Medium 5-6kms and Long 7-8kms. Registration will be open from 4.15pm, 45 minutes before the start time of 5.00pm.
No previous orienteering experience is necessary, and members of the public are welcome at this event. There will be a briefing for beginners at approximately 4.45pm. If you are new to orienteering, arrive a little earlier to register before the briefing. More information for beginners is available at the MetrO Series page, including a sample map and course.
NOTE: The Metro Series event at Trigg, which was cancelled last week due to extreme weather, will now be held on Saturday 25th January.
The assembly area for the event is off Beach Rd between Duffy Rd & Okely Rd. Follow the access road through to the Southernmost car park, near the Skate Park. The nearest Freeway exits are Reid Highway or Warwick Rd, and the event is within easy walking distance from Warwick train station.
