Metro 8 - Edgewater was a fantastic event, offering a mix of big cliffs, sandy and limestone rock paths, and even some bush running—right in suburbia! It was great to see a strong turnout, including several newcomers eager to take on the challenge.

This event featured a brand-new map, expertly drawn by Ricky Thackray, who lived up to his reputation by designing a "tRicky" course that kept everyone on their toes. As expected, the usual contenders secured their spots in the short, middle, and long categories, showcasing their skills on this fresh terrain.

A huge thank you to Ricky for his excellent map-making and course-setting, as well as to Riley, Lily, and Sharon for handling key collection, setup, and the beginner and general briefings. And a huge thanks to Tash for helping to organise the event and placing out all the controls. We also appreciate the WOW members who helped collect controls—especially the brave soul who retrieved the wasp-guarded first control! Thankfully, no orienteers were harmed in its placement or removal. Control collectors were Brian, Christine, Helen and Ken P, Carol and Ken B, Carolyn with Christopher and Johnathon, and David Messenger with Christine Brown.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event!
