Sept 30th - Oct 8th

Western Australia

The Kambarang Carnival will consist of 7 orienteering events held over 9 days in and around Perth. With dozens of different courses on offer, there is a course at every event that is suited to your ability, age and fitness. Join us for the fun, no matter what your level of experience!

Entries are now closed. Enter on the day is not available for any courses.

The Australian national orienteering championships are usually held each year around the end of September / beginning of October. The national Championships events (Sprint, Middle, Long and Relays) are typically held over two weekends, with the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships (ASOC) held over three days during the week in between. With so many events, this is the National Orienteering Carnival!

This year, the national championships will be held in Western Australia. The Kambarang Carnival follows the usual order of events: the first weekend will have the middle distance and relay championships, and the second weekend the long and sprint. The ASOC events are held Tuesday to Thursday in between, with Schools competitions in the mornings, followed by public entry events for each day on the same maps.

The Kambarang Carnival attracts participants from around Australia and the whole world. For most, it will be a different experience, far removed from the type of map that they are used to running on. You will have the edge on them as there is definitely a home-town advantage when it comes to orienteering.

You do not need to compete at national level to be able to attend the carnival. Especially for casual orienteers, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience the atmosphere, buzz and excitement of a national carnival close to home. There are Very Easy (VE), Easy (E) and Moderate (M) courses available at each event. For these courses you also have option to enter as a group. For more experienced orienteers who prefer shorter courses, there are "A Short" options that are suited for experienced orienteers of any age (i.e. 16 to 80+). Draft course distances are available, and more details can be found in Bulletin 1.

Entries close on August 31st for all courses. Due to organisational reasons, Enter on the Day will not be available for any events or any courses. Please make sure to get your entry in through Eventor before the end of this month!
