Mt Elphinstone

On the Saturday afternoon twenty five people, including fifteen from Perth, took part in the event at Mt Elphinstone set by Tony Whittaker. The courses were carefully designed so that it was possible to avoid the darkest green parts of the map if you utilised the tracks. It was a small, interesting map which included cliffs, large rock surfaces, some climbs, thick vegetation and a network of tracks, some of them rather vague. A map flip on the long course meant that competitors could enjoy “two rounds” of the map.

Results are in Eventor and a number of runners have put their routes up in Livelox.

Mt Clarence & ASHS

A fine, cool morning greeted us for the second event of the weekend, set by John Toomey. The long and medium courses all started with a loop on Mt Clarence followed by a short transition section in the streets, finishing up on the grounds of Albany Senior High School. The short course was completely on the school area. It was quite a challenge to convert from the 1:10,000 scale of Mt Clarence to the 1:2,500 sprint style course with multiple controls in the school.

A big thank you to the setters for a fun weekend. Thanks also to those those helped out with admin tasks: Jen Graham Taylor and Edmund Toomey. There were also a number of people who willingly collected controls over the two days.

Again, results are in Eventor and some route choices are available in Livelox.
