Pony Road, off West Talbot Road, Mount Observation

Entries are now open in Eventor for a standard orienteering event at Wundabiniring Brook (SW Mt Observation) on September 5th. Come and enjoy the challenge of running on a map little used over the past few years.

A full range of courses is offered from H1 to VE to suit all standards and ambitions. There is a range of terrain from relatively flat, partly cleared very runnable land around the Helena River, leading into more rocky spur/gully terrain and an upland laterite plateau. The area has been burnt in the last year, removing much of the thicker vegetation. The map dates back to 1993 (with minor updates) and a lot of the rock detail reflects older-style mapping, including a number of very small boulders.

Access is via the Great Southern Highway, Yarra Road and West Talbot Road, BUT THE LAST 4KM IS VIA PONY ROAD, A ROUGH, POT-HOLED, POTENTIALLY WET TRACK AND CARE MUST BE TAKEN ON THIS SECTION (not recommended for small/low vehicles).

Pre-entry via Eventor is encouraged and preferred. Entries close at midday (12:00 WST) on Saturday 4th September. However, EOD (enter on the day) will be accepted.
Courses available: H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, M, E and VE. More details are in the Information flyer.
