This event continues the trend for MetrO this season of being largely in native bushland; in fact the Short and Medium courses can be completed without venturing into the suburbs at all. Warwick Bushland is 60 hectares of original native vegetation. It is mainly jarrah-banksia woodland with scattered tuart trees, and more than 200 species of wildflowers, many of which are still in bloom. Wildlife includes several reptile species (bobtails are very active at the moment), over 60 native bird species, and mammals including bats and bandicoots. The Bushland is surrounded by a fence, which may only be crossed at marked gates and crossing points. When choosing your route between control points you will need to carefully consider the location of these crossing points.

Please read the Information flyer which has all you need to know! There's also a Toilet Map for your convenience.

Almost all the controls in the bushland can be reached by using the paved or limestone tracks, which are very suitable for modern prams. The Friends of Warwick Bushland have a great website and Facebook page, and Orienteering Western Australia encourages orienteers, especially those from the northern suburbs, to support and/or join this group.

NB: If you miss the event, the courses will be available on MapRunF from the following day!

Directions to the event are in Eventor. Note that you cannot access the southern entry to Lloyd Drive from the westbound lanes on Beach Rd.
If you think you might need the toilet before the race, arrive early! The toilet is 400m away, and has a single, unisex cubicle.
Dogs are allowed at this event, but must be on a leash at all times.

Three different distances will be on offer: Short 2-3 km, Medium 4-6 km and Long 7-8 km. So whether you're new and trying orienteering for the first time or a seasoned pro, there's something for you.

Pre-registration is encouraged. Please register now through Eventor by Friday 27 November at 23:59. If you forget to pre-enter, you will still be able enter when you arrive at the event on the day. Just don't forget!

This event will be using SI TIMING so bring your SI card if you have one, or pick up your loan card when you arrive (at no extra cost).
